OUR FIRM

Made for today,
here for what’s next

South Grand operates at the intersection of private business ownership, succession planning, and long-term capital. We develop relationships where the business, owner, partner, strategy and timing — align.

An ownership transition is more than a transaction.

Many exceptional private businesses are never put on the market. Their owners may be considering succession, growth, liquidity, partnership, or simply what the next chapter could look like.

It all begins with
an honest relationship.

Our job is to recognize when meaningful conversations should begin.

South Grand operates before the traditional transaction process, identifying where the right company, the right investor and the right timing may already begin to align.

OUR MODEL

Modern origination,
traditional deal values

Technology has enhanced how companies are identified and analyzed, but it has not changed what builds trusted relationships. South Grand brings thoughtful human touch and technology together.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Fit comes first.

Alignment Before Activity

More activity doesn't create better opportunities. We start by identifying true strategic fit.

1

Quality Before Quantity

The goal isn’t a long target list but finding businesses genuinely aligned with the acquisition strategy.

Relationships Before Transactions

The objective is not the longest target list. It is identifying businesses that are genuinely relevant to a defined acquisition strategy.

3

Context Before Introduction

Both parties should know the meeting's purpose, its importance, and any potential alignment.

Discretion Throughout

Private business conversations require judgment, confidentiality, and respect for the people involved.

Timing Matters

A good company at the wrong time is still not the right opportunity—it’s a good fit that hasn’t found its moment yet.

A word from our founder

Alexander “Sean” Nagy

Managing Director

I learned the meaning of business ownership long before South Grand.

My father was a skilled machinist in Chicago who later became a real estate entrepreneur. I grew up seeing firsthand the sacrifice, resilience, and belief it takes to build something that creates a better future for your family.

That perspective still shapes how I see businesses today. Investors may see financials and growth potential. Owners see decades of work, loyal employees, customers, family, and a reputation they built by hand.

That is why South Grand believes the best transactions should respect both what a business can become and everything it took to be built.

— Sean Nagy, Founder

“A business can be evaluated in numbers. What those numbers represent is often a lifetime of work.”
